The Problem With Ali Abdaal...
Picture this, 18-year-old Ross (still looking like a 35-year-old man), scrolling through Youtube in a desperate search for a video that would help him get more done
Aha!
I came across a video by Ali Abdaal “How I Manage My Time - 10 Time Management Tips”
And then another “How to Make Productivity Healthier”
This was it! This is what I needed!
Or so I thought…
You see, I like Ali Abdaal, but I hate his advice.
His approach to getting more done and being more productive actually makes you less productive.
I can hear you already “What! Ross how can this be?!”
Well before you chase me down with pitchforks, let me explain…
Ali’s whole productivity philosophy isn’t actually to help you be more productive, it’s to help you be satisfied with what you get done.
And look, of course there’s a place for that.
But if you’re concerned about getting shit done, this doesn’t help.
You’re not learning how to set achievable motivating goals
You’re not learning how to effectively plan your days
You’re not learning how to effectively prioritise
You’re not learning how to focus
And I could go on, but I think you get the point.
So what’s the answer? How do you be more productive and get shit done?
You learn how to set achievable, motivating goals
You learn how to effectively plan your days
You learn how to effectively prioritise and
You learn how to focus
How do you do that?
You find resources, mentors and information on each of these 4 areas.
You implement and take action on what you learn, seeing how it influences your productivity.
If it increases your productivity and you get more done, you keep it.
If it doesn’t increase your productivity and you don’t get more done, you go back to step 1.
You keep doing this until you have something that works for you.
It’s a cycle of experimentation and analysis.
And look, of course, there’s a place for being satisfied with what you get done.
But that’s only true if you are actually getting shit done in the first place.

PS: If you don’t want to go through all the experimentation, I have a whole module on getting shit done and mastering your actions in my MasteryOS program.
It’s everything I wish I had 3 years ago when I stumbled across those Ali Abdaal videos.
The deadline for enrolling in the course is in 3 days time, so if you wanna get shit done and chase Self-Mastery, click here.
